Time needed: 3 minutes total (1 minute each)

Setting: When engaged in meaningful work, learning, or creative exploration

Purpose: Cultivating states of flow and deep engagement with what matters

Entry Portal (60 seconds)

What: Place hands on workspace, take three centering breaths. State one genuine question driving your exploration. Set a clear but flexible intention: “I’m curious about…” Gently declutter your physical and mental space.

Notice: Quality of your curiosity, what draws you forward, initial resistance or excitement.

Why: Creates threshold moment, primes brain for exploration, aligns with intrinsic motivation.

Flow Calibration (60 seconds)

What: Pause to assess your current state. Notice whether challenge level and skill are aligned. If anxious: slightly reduce challenge or break task into smaller steps. If bored: introduce constraint or increase complexity. Find the sweet spot where engagement feels natural.

Notice: Early warning signs of frustration or disengagement, when time seems to disappear, your optimal challenge level.

Why: Adjusts conditions for flow state, builds metacognitive awareness, enables sustainable engagement.

Deep Dive Signal (60 seconds)

What: Place one hand on heart, one on forehead. Ask: “What am I not yet seeing?” Let attention drop below obvious patterns. Follow unexpected thread of interest without judgment.

Notice: Where surprising connections emerge, what remains unsettled or buzzing, where energy naturally flows.

Why: Disrupts premature closure, invites emergent thinking, supports cognitive playfulness.
